Disappointing for kids
Honestly, we were very disappointed with some very simple edits that could have been achieved in the script, that would have not had the kids (10, 7 and 5 years old) repeating the new words they learned:
1) When Buddy asks Jovie out, she replied "Sure, what the hell" (heck?!)
2) Buddy asked Jovie to be a little less "Bitchy" (cranky?)
3) "Screw you Jenny Craig" dietary comment (insensitive, and easily omitted or altered).
I realize the theatre company said it was a PG show, but given the audience of children and their enthusiasm to believe at Christmas, why would these non-value-added curses be maintained in the script? Do you really think adults enjoyed those earth shattering moments? Very poor judgement/taste given the marketed audience, attendees, and the expectations of all we spoke with. Over a week later our kids mentioned the "swearing" in the show. Poor Poor taste guys. And so avoidable.
